Factory-Mounted Old Work Swing Ears Save You Time on the Job Site! 4"-Square Old Work Box with Swing Ears Swing Ears with Self-Threading Screws May Be Purchased Separately 52171-OW 4"-Square Old Work Box with Swing Ears Swing Ears Provide Behind-the-Wall Gripping Force Save time on the job site with the Steel City 4"-Square Old Work Box with Swing Ears. Swing ears, which keep the box securely fastened in place after installation, come premounted for a faster install and can be used 3 on walls up to ⁄4" thick. Swing ears (OW SWING EAR) can also be purchased separately for field installation. These come packaged in plastic bags containing a pair of swing ears with two self-threading screws for each ear. No tapping required — just mount directly to a Steel 11 City Welded Box. Welded boxes (excluding the 4 ⁄16" box) come standard with the appropriate punched side-panel holes for the OW SWING EAR.
